My
hometown Schrems is situated near the border to the Czech Republic,
about 80 miles northwest of Vienna.
The
area is densely wooded (mainly coniferous trees) and one of the four
quarters of Lower Austria called "Waldviertel". The small
town of Schrems is surrounded by woods and numerous fishponds. Just
to give you an idea:

In
1992, I bought a property of some 750 square meters within the town.
A small house had been built there in the early forties. Though the
building is old and dilapidated it offers fresh water and electricity.
I started changing the garden as soon as the place had become my own.
It has turned into a beautiful green oasis by the years. I think that
this strongly influences the mood of the patient birds. Have a look:
